Here's a not very comprehensive list of those venues and services we have experienced on our travels around the country. If we've missed you, please let us know so that we can rectify the omission. So without further ado, and in no particular order:
The Clophill Centre - Clophill, Situated between Bedford and Luton
A great venue for those looking for a green and eco-friendly wedding environment. The venue has a beautiful grove for handfastings, a marquee for the party, a firepit for your guests to gather around, and plenty of space for green camping. http://www.clophillcentre.co.uk/weddings/Harewood House - Leeds
Quite simply, a stunning venue with extremely friendly staff. This is a great location with many beautiful locations within the grounds in which to hold your handfasting, as well as some amazing photo opportunities.
Hever Castle - Kent
This is a beautiful home and provides lots of interesting conversation points for your guests. Plenty of history, a beautiful building and efficient and friendly staff.
Rollright Stones - Oxfordshire
One of the most beautifully located stone circles in the Midlands. We have held some truly memorable handfastings and namings on this site. There are some great country pubs in the area for the celebratory party, or why not arrange a picnic?
Yurt Camp - Devon
How about something a little different with accommodation for your guests right on site, and some amazing food. There is a beautiful woods within the grounds and the sunlight filtering through the trees adds to the magic.
Howling Hill House - Ross on Wye, Herefordshire
What can we say about this little gem? An eccentric and homely sanctuary, with stunning views over the Vale of the Wye. Great food and great hospitality, with the added bonus of the most stunning B&B rooms we have seen. Also perfect for a honeymoon.
St. Nectan's Glen - Cornwall
Situated between Tintagel and Boscastle, this is one of the most stunning sites in Cornwall. It is a fair walk from the car park, along the side of a river in a stunning valley, but worth it for those who are able to do so. At the end of your walk you are greeted with the sight and sound of a beautiful waterfall. There is also a lovely cafe on site serving light refreshments. If you don't mind getting your feet wet, it is even possible to stand in the middle of the river for the handfasting, or just bring a towel and take a dip afterwards.
Oxwich Bay Hotel - Gower Peninsula, Wales
A truly stunning setting for your handfasting. When the weather is fine, the gardens make a stunning venue, overlooking the beautiful Oxwich Bay. If the weather is inclement there is an amazing indoor room with the most interesting wood burner stover, set half way up an old and massive tree trunk. Great food and drink too!http://www.oxwichbayhotel.co.uk/weddings/
Stonehenge - Wiltshire
What can we say? It's the most recognisable monument in Britain, and possible the world. An ancient site with so much history and myth attached it is impossible to do it justice with words alone. There is limited private access available outside normal open hours. There are also restrictions on guest numbers and what we are able to do within this ancient monument but it is worth it for the privilege and honour of holding your handfasting at this fascinating venue.
English Heritage - Stonehenge Private Circle Acces
Welsh Green Weddings - Llandysul, Wales (near Carmarthen)
Green & Away - Tented Conference Centre
Located in the Worcestershire Country Side, this venue is ideal for those who want an ecologically-friendly wedding. This unique venue offers a chance for you and your guests to come together in a natural and creative space. The website states it's Europe's only tented conference centre, so accommodation is available onsite too.
Bev Andy Carmellis
A family run site with stunning views, overlooking Stithians Reservoir in Cornwall. Dogs, campers and caravans welcome.
Drink & Hospitality
The Drunken Monk
An authentic on-site licensed pay bar can be provided for your celebrations, or maybe you just want to buy in some great mead and English fruit wines. Very friendly staff, for some reason very popular with the single men ....
Camel Valley Vineyard
A Cornish producer of the best fizzy Rose wine in the world - and that's official. We have had the arduous task of tasting all of their wine to ensure that it is of a high enough standard for us to recommend to you.
The Hog Roast Service
This is not your average hog roast service. They can supply wild boar, venison, duck and other wild game in season as well as a rotisserie of chicken. The hogs are allowed to forage naturally before being brought in for fattening with beer, so the meat tastes great too. http://thehogroastservice.co.uk/
Howle Hill House - see above for more information.
The Mardale Inn - Lake DistrictWe came across this little gem whilst performing a handfasting in the Lake District. Really great food and a very friendly welcome. If a honeymoon with cosy log fires, real ale and walks in stunning scenery is your thing, then this is for you.www.mardaleinn.co.uk Other links
